The Venom Comiquette dates back to 2009 and is probably the Sideshow statue that (in the shortest time) has gone through the highest rise in price on the market, rapidly becoming a classic and one of the most sought after Marvel collectibles all over the world! Sculpted by a large group of artists, including Martin Canale, the piece was released with an edition size of 1100 pieces for the regular version and only 350 for the exclusive, characterized by the presence of the original Art Print by Ariel Olivetti. The size is of 33 x 35cm, the weight just over 4.5Kg and the height of approximately 33 cm. The dreadful enemy of Spider-Man is perched on the eaves of the Daily Bugle building, whose logo appears (on relief) at the foot of the character. The impressive quality and the beauty of this piece immediately catch the eye! As in the tables of Comics, Venom exhibits a powerful physique and a vaguely fibrous structure, which instantly reveals his anomalous nature: a monstrous bundle of alien nerves, fitting like a second skin to the massive physique of the body-builder Eddie Brock. This essential feature of the character is portrayed through a very suitable pose and a breathtaking quality of coloring. The dominant colors (black and blue) continuously alternate throughout the body and perfectly blend every contour line of muscles! The sculpt is excellent, the musculature is defined in a workmanlike and the details are spectacular. Black and sharp nails, as the claws of a large bird of prey, stand out on the open and arched hands, while the belly and the the back of the costume exhibit the characteristic, giant white spider, providing the whole figure with a top notch chromatic effect. The base is very elaborate and well done, rich of steps and jagged edges, and covered (at the foot of the character) by the black and fibrous protrusions of the symbiote. But the strong point of this piece (as it often happens in statues devoted to this character) is the head! The long and typical tongue unrolls well out of the huge jaws and is colored in an impeccable way, while the several teeth, irregular and sharp, stand out from the wide open mouth, giving the hero the monstrous expression of a true nightmare! Along with the Comiquettes of Carnage (which has a very similar base, with the same logo of the Daily Bugle) and Spider-Man, this piece forms a huge diorama of fine workmanship. However, even as a single piece, this statue is a real jewel in the vast Marvel catalogue of Sideshow and, in my humble opinion, still the best representation of Venom available on market.
